My Thoughts on the How to Train Your Dragon 3 Trailer

I thought I’d share my thoughts and feels about the new How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World trailer. In case you haven’t seen it, I’ve posted it below.

GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH! I don’t think that properly expresses how excited I am for this movie. It’s been so long since the second film came out, and even longer since the first one. I just recently re-watched both films, and I gotta say, they kept to the feeling of those films with this new trailer.

Now, I’m super enthusiastic for pretty much everything that was shown on screen here, but we have to talk about the one thing that seems to be on everyone’s minds: the female dragon, aka Toothless’s new girlfriend. A lot of people were upset that she had curves to emphasize her femininity. After all, Meatlug and Stormfly don’t have curves, and they’re female dragons.

And, I can see where they’re coming from. It is kind of stupid, especially when, instead of making her all shiny and such, they could have used this awesome fan-made version. However, I’m also interested in seeing how her appearance works with the new world Hiccup and Astrid discover. Can she blend into her surroundings with her sparkly scales? Does her disappearing act have something to do with her whiteness? I’m very intrigued.

As for everything else, holy cow! That one shot (can it be called a shot if it’s not a live-action movie?) with Hiccup and Toothless walking through the flames was awesome! Same with Toothless being all lightning-powered! I’m iffy on the beard, though. I’m hoping Astrid made Hiccup shave, and that’s why it’s not in the rest of the trailer. Or, it can be an ending/epilogue beard.

Oh, and did anyone else feel like bawling in the beginning intro? God, I don’t know how I’m going to live my life without Toothless in it. He’s just so freakin’ adorable! As shown not only by the replay of the first film scene, but also how clueless he is with his mating dances. Those weird, bird-like mating dances. Poor Toothless.

What I am curious about, though, is why there’s no Snotlout, Ruffnut, Tuffnut, or Fishlegs in the trailer. They’re in the Netflix show, so why weren’t they in the trailer? And, for that matter, where’s Hiccup’s mom? Curious… I’m not sure how the villain is going to play into everything, but he doesn’t seem as evil as the second movie’s bad guy. Honestly, I was hoping a little for a female villain, but like I mentioned, everything about this trailer is still absolutely amazing!

I know I’m going to be sobbing at the end of this film. Especially because I’ve heard the finale is going to reflect the ending the books’ author had in mind for her series. I just want my poor babies to be safe! Dreamworks, you better not hurt them! March 2019 cannot get here soon enough. In fact, I’m just going to take a ten-month-long nap. Wake me up when it’s release day.

My Thoughts on the Incredibles 2 Trailer

I thought I’d share my thoughts and feels about the new Incredibles 2 trailer. In case you haven’t seen it, I’ve posted it below:

Like most millennials, I was very excited for this film, as I was in the core audience of kids who watched the first movie in theaters. However, after seeing what the synopsis of this film is going to be through various sneak peeks and trailers, I’ve come to realize that I might not enjoy this one as much as I thought.

Why, you ask? Well, there’s a possibility that this movie will play on that Mr. Dad stereotype, where the husband and father has to “babysit” his own kids while the mom does work. Think Daddy Day Care or Baby Daddy.

I’m still going to watch the film in theaters; I’m just hoping that there’s not as much of the Mr. Dad stuff as appears in the trailer.

I’m also a little concerned about the voices for the kids. Since it’s been ten years, I guess they got new voices for them, even Frozone’s wife sounds different. I’ll have to get used to that. I wish they would have grown the kids a few years instead, but I guess I’ll just have to be happy with what Disney’s giving me.

The math scene in this trailer is hilarious, though. Along with all of the Jack Jack stuff. That poor kid. I’m also excited to see all of the new powers and control Violet exhibits. I think that’s probably the most exciting part: seeing the three superpowered kids get stronger and more knowledgeable about their abilities.

Oh, and Edna is back too! That’s super fun.

My Thoughts on the New Avengers: Infinity War Trailer

I thought I’d share my thoughts and feels about the new Avengers: Infinity War trailer. In case you haven’t seen it, I’ve posted it below. 

Ermygawd. I can’t take the wait for this movie any freakin’ longer! I mean, I’m super glad they decided to move the film’s release date up to April 27, but GAH! This trailer has me way too hyped.

We got some Thanos and Gamora flashbacks, which have me super curious as to where Nebula is in all of this. We got some of Thanos’s lackeys doing bad things, especially that one dude to Doctor Strange. And, we even got Peter Quill + Tony Stark banter.

Everything about this trailer was great, but, my favorite part was Thor. Not the part where his head is about to be squished (Side note: I don’t actually think his head is going to be squished as that scene looks like it will take place in the beginning of the movie). No, my favorite part is him making lightning while sweet teenage Groot and Rocket watch. I’ve been completely fangirling over the theory that Thor will get a new weapon in this film. I need it to be true. I also can’t wait to see Peter Dinklage help Thor make his new hammer/ax thing.

Okay, I’ve rambled on about Thor for a while now, so I want to mention some more awesome scenes. Cap trying to hold Thanos’s hand back was pretty awesome. I don’t think it’ll work out very well for Cap, but it’s a cool scene. Starloard/Peter Quill using Strange’s magic as stepping stones in the air is very cool. And the battle scenes are so crazy!

I think the DCEU should really take note here. This is what a team-up superhero movie should feel like. It shouldn’t be rushed. The characters have had time to come into their own, and now, they need to learn to work as a team. It’s going to be epic watching them all come together to take on Thanos. I’m so ready for it.

My Thoughts on The 100 Season Five Trailer

I thought I’d share my thoughts and feels about The 100 season five trailer. In case you haven’t seen it, I’ve posted it below. Please don’t watch it if you haven’t seen the previous seasons. There are lots of spoilers in the video.

First off, I’m wary about the time jump. I don’t like it when TV shows jump five or six years into the future. It just throws off the timeline of the story. There’s also a loss of some of the tension that was carried over from previous seasons. And, on the note of the time jump, I don’t think I like how Clarke has an adopted daughter in this season. It just feels off to me.

Now, moving past the time jump, I’m also a little sad that we’re seeing the dynamics of previous seasons being reversed here. The Skaikru have been merged with Trikru, but now a new set of space outsiders have come to take over, exactly like Skaikru originally set out to do. I just feel that this plotline is too similar to what’s already been done. Thus, it makes the storyline for the season seem dull.

However, I don’t want to pass too many judgments. There have been seasons the of The 100 that I’ve thought would mega suck, but they didn’t. Season two and three’s arcs had me very disappointed at first, but once I was watching, I was hooked. I’m hoping that’s how this season plays out as well.

As for the characters, I’m glad we get to see some new faces. It increases the pressure. I’m also super happy to see Octavia still kicking butt. Whoop! Whoop! I seriously hope she and Bellamy work out their squabbling. I just want them to be a family again, gosh darnit!

All in all, this was a super long trailer, and it showed some exciting scenes. However, I’m conserving any verdicts until I’ve watched the first episode of the season.

My Thoughts on The Crimes of Grindelwald Trailer

I thought I’d share my thoughts and feels about the newly released Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald trailer. In case you haven’t seen it, I’ve posted it below:

Oh gosh. I waited four days to watch this trailer, just because I thought I’d be disappointed. And, while there are some disappointing elements, I’m still super pumped about this film.

I guess I’ll start this off with the negative stuff. One, as most people have pointed out already, you can't apparate onto Hogwarts’ grounds, so that’s really weird. Two, Johnny Depp is undeserving of the Harry Potter franchise and should have been replaced immediately. And three, there will be no mention of Dumbledore’s sexuality or relationship with Grindelwald in this movie, and that’s just sad.

Okay. So, other than those three things, this trailer was everything I didn’t know I wanted in the Fantastic Beasts sequel. To be honest, I thought FB was just okay. It didn’t particularly wow me or have that nostalgic quality that the original HP films do. However, this trailer did manage to give me some of that nostalgia. Maybe it’s because Hogwarts and Dumbledore are actually in this one? And they used the original HP music?

Speaking of Dumbledore, it’s weird seeing him in regular-people clothes. Shouldn’t he be in robes? I’m a little confused about the costume design in this one. Why would Dumbledore be wearing a suit when in every headmaster picture in Hogwarts the witch or wizard has robes on? It’s not a super huge thing, but it’s a little baffling to me.

Anywho, I don’t know where the plot for this particular film is going, so it’ll be exciting to see what adventures Newt and co. get into this time around. I’m also interested in seeing Newt and his brother’s family drama play out.

All in all, this film is going to have its rough patches, but I’m definitely going to be watching it. It actually releases two weeks after I’ll be seeing Cursed Child on Broadway. So, yay for a month of awesome Harry Potter times!

Oh, and just a warning, be prepared for a lot of trailer thoughts over the next week. There have been some big ones that have just been revealed, and I want to talk about them all!

My Thoughts on The Death Cure Trailer

I thought I’d share my thoughts and feels on The Death Cure trailer. In case you haven’t seen it, I’ve posted it below. Just remember that this is the third movie in the franchise, so stay away from the video if you haven’t seen the other films, unless you just want to be spoiled.

Okay, so I feel like I’ve been waiting for this movie for a loooooooong time. Honestly, if I hadn’t written movie reviews for The Maze Runner back in 2014 and its sequel The Scorch Trials in 2015, I would have forgotten how much I thoroughly enjoyed these films.

Now, I’ve only read the first book, The Maze Runner, and I didn’t really like it. It was just an okay read. Maybe if I’d read it in sixth grade instead of college I would have loved it more, but I didn’t… HOWEVER, I feel like the films present a more “grown up” feeling. Yes, adults can read YA and watch kids’ movies (I do all the time), but these films present a perfect balance of complicated storyline and young, yet intelligent and thoughtful characters. The book versions didn’t quite have that thoughtfulness.

It’s been two years, but the actors still look relatively the same. I’m glad Dylan O’Brien, aka Thomas, is doing well after his on-set accident. I’m also glad that what looks like a majority of the main cast is back for this one. There’s only one person who is maybe missing…? Not sure.

I do think that with all the action-packed trailer scenes, what’s being left out is some info on what’s happened between the end of The Scorch Trials and the start of this film. Why are the characters stealing the cargo train thing? But I love the suspense with the idea that these kids can cure the world and, for some reason, they have to break back into the maze.

All in all, I think this trailer relied a lot on nostalgia from the first two films. Maybe it’s just me, but I missed these characters without even realizing it. And I hope Thomas and the gang make good decisions because I haven’t read the book. This means I don’t know what’s going to happen. I’m going in blind!

My Thoughts on the Avengers: Infinity War Trailer

I thought I’d share my thoughts and feels about the new Avengers: Infinity War trailer. In case you’re not one of the 100+ million people who watched it, I’ve posted the trailer below:

The first part of the trailer starts with Nick Fury’s superpowered-people Avengers-initiative speech, and I loved it. I’m glad Nick Fury is potentially going to be in this film. He’s never actually shown, but I feel like it’s a solid bet he’ll show up at some point, even if it’s a small role. I also like how all of the original characters get to speak except Captain America and Hawkeye.

That’s one thing I didn’t like. Where’s Hawkeye?! Or Ant-Man? I don’t particularly love their characters (I don’t hate them either), but I want them to be somehow represented in the trailer.

Moving on, I’m still not feeling the Scarlet Witch and Vision romance. It’s kind of icky, but I guess Marvel’s trying to make us feel more for Vision’s character since he’s probably not going to make it through the movie alive.

Oh, and the original soundtrack is back! I forgot how much I loved that song until I watched this trailer (over and over again). There was also spidey sense, an iron spider suit, a betraying Loki (for shame, Loki), an evil Thanos doing mean things, a Nomad Captain America, a Wakandan army, and so many awesome characters!

Someone somewhere said that this trailer is better than the entire Justice League movie, and, while I can’t say I agree because I haven’t seen Justice League yet, I really want to. This movie is going to be epic! I just hope Thor actually gets to meet up with the rest of the Avengers before the end of the movie.

My Thoughts on the Love, Simon Trailer

I thought I’d share my thoughts and feels about the newly released Love, Simon trailer. In case you haven’t seen it, I’ve posted it below:

My thoughts before watching the trailer: Okay, so I have to admit before I even get into the trailer review that I’ve been getting a little sick of hearing about Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda. (And, in case you don’t know, Simon vs. was a YA contemporary gay love story that’s been adapted for the big screen and renamed Love, Simon.)

I LOVED Simon vs. when I first read it. It was cute and fun and totally adorable. However, people just won’t shut up about it on Twitter. It’s gotten to the point where the hype has almost killed it for me, which makes me a little sad. Hopefully the movie trailer fixes that.

My thoughts after watching the trailer: LOL. That ending, though. Everything else pales in comparison to that line: “Oh, God. Help me Jesus.” I’m just going to rewatch that snippet over and over again.

But seriously, it was a good trailer. It’s got a nice, contemporary outline and feel to it. Simon narrates his life and his woes to the world, and we listen with bated breath.

It’s cute. I love the casting choices, minus one detail that I won’t even bother mentioning. Jennifer Garner and Josh Duhamel look fabulous, and Nick Robinson is alright. I originally loved his casting choice, but he does look a little old in the trailer to be playing a teen. Not sure how I feel about that. (Nick’s age isn’t the detail I’m not going to mention.)

I’m not over-the-moon about the trailer, but I’m pretty sure I’ll be seeing this movie in theaters as long as I have the $$$ to do so. I also really need to reread the book because I don’t know if half the things in the trailer are book events or not. *sigh* The life of a reader…

My Thoughts on the Beauty & the Beast Trailer

I thought I’d share my thoughts and feels about the new Beauty & the Beast trailer. In case you haven’t seen it, I’ve posted it below:

Okay, so I have to admit that I was super pumped about the cast when I originally heard who was playing which character. Now, though, I’m having a few doubts. While I still love the idea of Hermione, err… Emma Watson playing Belle, I’m not making the mental connection between the two in this trailer. Hopefully, though, that’s just because it’s a trailer, not the film. Also, if you’d like to see Emma singing “Belle,” I’ve linked that for you. I enjoyed it, but, again, I have my doubts.

As for the rest of the cast, I like Luke Evans, despite some people I know (*cough* my sister *cough*) not approving of his lack of a barge-like build. Unfortunately, Ewan McGregor’s French accent for Lumiere is tripping me up. Oh, and so is Chip’s. He doesn’t have an accent, but the voice isn’t right. Ian McKellan as Cogsworth is fine, and most of the other cast is good. I guess I just really want the voices from the cartoon for this film, but that’s obviously not going to happen.

My biggest problem comes in the form of what the animated characters look like. The Beast doesn’t look beastly. He looks like a well-groomed, CGI antelope. I need him to be scruffy and dangerous looking. Fortunately, I do very much like the actor they got to play him. Sadly, in my opinion, Mrs. Pots, Cogsworth, and Lumiere also look strange. I guess I thought those three would look more like their cartoon selves. I was kind of hoping they would, actually.

One thing that is on point, though, is the music. LOVE IT. Of course, most of it’s from the original version, so not a whole lot could go wrong there. Additionally, Belle’s more intense and dramatic scenes are very well done. I guess I’m just a little iffy on Watson’s more light-hearted scenes in the beginning of the trailer and movie.

All in all, I love the castle, the scenery, most of the cast, and the nostalgia. I really want this movie to be awesome, as it and The Jungle Book are really setting the standard for how I feel about all of the upcoming live-action Disney movies. (Aladdin, Lion King, and Mulan, here I come!)

My Thoughts on the Wonder Woman Trailer

I thought I’d share my thoughts and feels about the new Wonder Woman trailer. In case you haven’t seen it, I’ve posted it below:

I’m a little late on sharing my thoughts about the trailer, but I’ll just let you know that before its release at Comic-Con I was kind of “meh” about the WW movie. After the trailer, I’m “GAAAAAH” about the movie. My reasons for this change of heart mostly deal with how kicka$$ WW is. Oh, and there’s also Chris Pine. ;)

The opening scene is both intriguing and hilarious, but the main underlying theme throughout the trailer (and hopefully throughout the movie) is that women and girls can kick butt just as well, if not better than men. You can see in practically every non-Themyscira scene how the men underestimate her because of her biological sex. They don’t underestimate her for long, though.

Additionally, the power shown for the Amazons is incredible. I honestly can’t wait to see just how they are portrayed throughout the rest of the film. Other than television, I can’t really think of a movie that had female characters who were just as strong/stronger than the guy heroes. It’s about dang time that changed.

And that line, the “What I do is not up to you.” Holy cow! So much love. So much. As much as I’m adoring Chris Pine and his witty banter, I love how Gal Gadot took his character down a peg. Oh, and the slavery/secretary bit was simply beautiful.  

Now, although I do love a lot about this trailer, I have a few minor qualms. My first involves Gal Gadot. While I don’t dislike her as Wonder Woman, I just wish they had cast someone stockier and bustier. I feel like DC is trying to make all of the male superheroes (Batman, Superman, and Aquaman) so buff, chiseled, and masculine that they take up too much space, while Wonder Woman is thin and doesn’t take up as much room as them—thus, she appears less imposing when in actuality, she’s almost as strong as all of them.

My other minor issue is the whole in-the-past deal. I understand that this is how Wonder Woman’s story goes, but it’s weird seeing the past when we’ve already seen her in the future. That’s what originally made me hesitant about getting excited over this film.

All in all though, my issues have been set aside for the bada$$ery I fully expect to see watching Wonder Woman do her thang.

My Thoughts on the Beauty and the Beast Teaser Trailer

I had a different post in mind for today, but then I saw this beauty. If you haven’t yet seen the teaser trailer for Disney’s live-action Beauty and the Beast movie, now’s your chance.

I recently wrote my review for The Jungle Book live-action film, and you all know how amazed I was by that movie. I’m hoping Beauty and the Beast goes above and beyond that though. Emma Watson as Belle is simply perfection, and the effects and castle images are absolutely breathtaking in this teaser.

When the trailer started up with the soundtrack music from the cartoon, I immediately started feeling the childhood nostalgia. It seriously made me want to run and watch the older version. Unfortunately, I don’t have it with me. Darn.

I don’t have a whole lot to talk about because this trailer is so ridiculously short (evil teasers), but just know that I love it, and I must watch it. There is no other option.

My Thoughts on the Captain America: Civil War Trailer

I just realized I haven’t talked about the Captain America: Civil War trailer yet. How rude of me! In case you haven’t seen the one I’m getting ready to talk about, here it is:

As you can see, a lot is going on in this thing. Bucky and Steve are fighting with Ironman, and a clash of the supers is teased with the traditional X-Men cartoon run-towards-each-other-so-we-can-pretend-we’re-about-to-kill-each-other vibe. (Sidenote: Now I totally have that theme song stuck in my head.)

 I love everything about this trailer and what I can tell of the storyline. I wasn’t a huge fan of The Avengers: Age of Ultron, so I wasn’t expecting Marvel to be able to step up its game considering it butchered the story arcs of so many characters in that movie. However, I was pleasantly surprised seeing how epic this film looks.

I love how loyal Steve is to his friend and his cause, but I also love how some of the other characters, like Natasha, aren’t just standing by his side because they like him. It’s a true war between strong personalities. And the Avengers are all-spanking new. Scarlet Witch is back to show just how bada$$ she can be! Can you tell I’m excited about more female characters in superhero movies?

Now, of course I have to mention the introduction of Spider-Man and Black Panther. Black Panther looks ridiculously awesome. He’s got some mad skills. I hope Bucky can hold his own, but he looks kind of outmanned there. I’m just worried that, since the Black Panther movie isn’t releasing until after this one, some of the impact of his character in his solo movie will fade. BUT, if they don’t show his face—which so far they haven’t—maybe it’ll all feel fresh and fantastic.

As for Spider-Man, he looks fake. Of course he’s not real, so they had to do CGI or whatever, but he looks terrible. The other Spider-Mans looked so much more realistic. I really hope he doesn’t continue to look that bad in the actual film. I am really happy they introduced him in this movie, though. I just hope they’ll do him justice.

All in all, I’m excited to watch this movie. It looks like it’s going to be way more epic than the past few Marvel movies, and you can bet I’ll be watching it the week it comes out.

Movie Trailer Thoughts: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

I thought I’d share my thoughts and feels about the new Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them trailer. I know that I’m super late to this party, but I realized I hadn’t shared my thoughts yet, and I just couldn’t have that.

In case you haven’t seen the trailer ("Where have you been?" Teehee. I wrote that in Molly Weasley’s voice, did you hear her say it when you read the sentence?), I’ve posted it below:

First off, I have to say that the first time I saw this trailer, I, of course, loved it, but the second time I saw it, as it was previewing before Star Wars: The Force Awakens, I teared up. I guess seeing it on the big screen had me feeling all of the feels. Plus, that line “J.K. Rowling invites you to return to the Wizarding World” has me all nostalgic. I miss Harry so much! I even shushed my mom the other night, just because Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 was on television. And her response was “Haven’t you seen this multiple times already?” Yes, but that doesn’t matter.

Okay, back to the trailer. There’s actually not a lot going on with this trailer. It’s mostly just the Lumos Maxima scene, and the characters in the courtroom, then the two main characters looking at the case, and then the end title scene. Not a whole lot going on, right? But it’s still got me ready to buy a ticket.

I haven’t read the book Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them yet. I’ve looked through it and I know it’s more of an encyclopedia of creatures than an adventure story, so I can’t wait to see how the film plays out. I’ll be reading the book closer to the movie’s release date, just so I can know what’s happening.

Also, I love how we’re getting a look into the American Wizarding World for this film (I refuse to acknowledge that American non-wizards aren’t called muggles, though). And while I like the setting of the story, I think it would have been really amazing to see a modern-day America with wizards. Am I right? But I’m just happy we’re getting more wizardry, so I can’t complain too much.

Now, I’ve never seen Eddie Redmayne in anything, but I know he’s been said to be an amazing actor, so I can’t wait to see him play Newt Scamander. Other than his character, I’m not sure who the other actors and actresses are playing and I don’t want to completely spoil myself for the book (if there’s any crossover), so I’m not going to delve too far into who they are just yet.

All in all, I think it’s obvious that any Harry Potter fan is going to be seeing this movie. Actually, I’m fairly certain true Harry Potter fans would see this movie even if it was illegal. I know I would break the law just so I can be a wizard one more time.

Movie Trailer Thoughts: Allegiant (Again)

I thought I’d share my thoughts and feels about the newest Allegiant trailer. I know I did one earlier for the first trailer, but I have more thoughts. In case you haven’t seen the newest trailer, I’ve posted it below:

So I’ve heard a lot of flak from some people about how different the trailer/movie is from the book. They’re even more miffed because Insurgent was completely different, as well. And while I agree that the movie Insurgent did a horrible job with all the CGI, I actually really enjoyed the movie. I enjoyed it way more than I enjoyed the book. If you haven’t gotten the gist yet from my harping on the Insurgent book, I’ll just let you know that I didn’t really like the last two books. Correction: I loathed Allegiant. And it’s not even for the reasons I bet you’re thinking of. My problem with Allegiant was the world explanation. You CAN’T do that, Veronica Roth! It defeats the whole purpose of creating a dystopian book in the first place!

Okay, rant over. Needless to say, I’m glad the movies are taking a new direction. While I think there are some odd plot holes in the trailer (Four is rappelling when he’s supposed to be afraid of heights and his mother looks like she’s maybe four years older than him), I’m excited for the whole Four new tech and new gun scene that’s shown. He’s such a bada$$. The idea that the kids have grown up watching everyone in Chicago is also really interesting. I know that the people in charge watched, but I don’t remember the whole outside world being able to watch. The idea that these kids are enchanted by Four is so freakin’ adorable, though! I would be that creepy 20-year-old doing the same thing if I was there.

I am curious about what the movie is going to do with Peter and Tris’ brother, however. I remember Caleb’s storyline from the book (Duh), but I can’t tell what they’re going to do with it now. I don’t remember Peter’s storyline and his role in the book at all really. I probably should go back and read the books, just so I can tell the differences, but I feel the books and movies are different enough from each other that doing so will just make me even more confused.

All in all, I’m excited to see where they’re going with this. Do I wish this were the last movie in the franchise? Yes. Will I probably be seeing the second part anyway? More than likely, yes. Am I hoping for some radical changes in regards to the ending? You ‘betcha.

Movie Trailer Thoughts: Alice 2: Through the Looking Glass

I thought I’d share my thoughts and feels about the new Alice in Wonderland 2: Through the Looking Glass trailer. In case you haven’t seen it, I’ve posted it below:

I’m ridiculously excited for this movie. I watched the first one thinking “Eh, it’ll be alright, I guess,” but I was WRONG. So wrong. It was epic. So now this movie has some big shoes to fill. But from the looks of the trailer, I think it’ll be okay. I have to be honest, though, I forgot this movie was coming out in 2016 until I saw the teaser trailer. Don’t judge me. It’s been a rough semester.

I’m not sure exactly what Alice is wearing in the beginning of the trailer. It’s very colorful… (Please forgive me if this is significant to the book. I haven’t read Through the Looking-Glass, yet.) I’m also not 100% sure I like the villain in this one. I’m not a huge fan of clocks and time. That sounds weird, right? I don’t really know how to explain it. I guess time-travel villains like Zelena from Once Upon a Time and storylines like hers just aren’t my favorite, so I’m hoping the same issues won’t pop up in this movie.

Those are probably my only grumblings about this trailer. Otherwise, everything looked fantastic! Johnny Depp looked crazy and amazing, as always. Ditto for Helena Bonham Carter. I especially loved when the Mad Hatter was “scared” of the Red Queen coming back—or at least, that’s how the trailer made it appear. I also like the queen’s laugh at Time’s gift. I actually laughed out loud like a maniac at this while my roommate was in the next room. She probably thought I was insane.

I’m also really excited that all of the cast is the same. Anne Hathaway is back! Her character was so weird in the first movie, but I still love the White Queen, regardless. She’s just so airy and floaty. And Alan Rickman is voicing the Blue Caterpillar again! YES! And supposedly, Stephen Fry was the voice of the Chesire Cat in Alice in Wonderland, but for some reason, his voice sounded different in this trailer. Hmm…

All in all, I can’t wait to see this movie. And I will be seeing it, of that you can be sure. Oh, and remember, “We’re all mad here.”

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies Trailer

I recently watched the Pride and Prejudice and Zombies trailer and I am super excited!

I actually haven’t read the book, but I love me some Pride and Prejudice and some zombies, so why not put them together, right? Okay, so I was very skeptical at first, too, but the trailer looks really good. I also really like Lily James as Elizabeth, she looks fierce and fantastic. I'm not as sure about the guy who's playing Darcy, however. He's not how I picture Darcy (*cough* Matthew Macfadyen *cough*). Mr. Bingley looks nice, though. 

I'll definitely be seeing this in theaters. I might also buy the book to read before I go.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens Trailer

As all of you must know by now, there is a new Star Wars movie coming out in December. Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Sounds ominous, right? Although, I’m it should sound like a good thing. She’s going to get the force, right? Right!?! Please?

I’m super pumped that the main character is female! This means the new generation of potential Star Wars lovers can grow to encompass not just guys and nerdy girls, but all kinds of girls! (I say this as a proud nerdy girl.) Woot! Woot!

Allegiant Trailer Thoughts and Part 2 Title Reaction

I thought I’d share my thoughts and feels about the new Allegiant trailer. In case you haven’t seen it, I’ve posted it below:

The first part of the trailer just goes through and briefly summarizes what happened in the past two movies. I thought that was kind of useless. Instead of putting so much info in there about Divergent and Insurgent, they could have put in more clips from Allegiant. I think that makes sense, right? No other movie trailer takes us back in time like this one does.

After the blast-from-the-past scenes, the trailer moves on to the gang climbing over the wall. I seriously don’t remember this being in the book. Actually, I don’t remember any of the book, so of course I don’t remember any of what’s being shown (if it’s even the same). If you know the major differences, you should definitely comment below and let me know. Obviously, I’m too lazy to look them up myself. ;)

I do like all of the Theo James action scenes. They’re very nice. Very, very nice. Although, there is one where he’s blowing his cheeks out and it kind of made me chuckle. He looked like a blowfish. Now, Shailene Woodley, she’s someone I’m sure you’ve all recognized by now that I have a very like/hate relationship with. She was good in The Fault in Our Stars, but I didn’t care for her very much in the first Divergent movie. She was just a’ight. I still don’t feel like she’s a really good fit for Theo James/ Four, though. They just seem like total opposites. However, Shailene was better in Insurgent. I actually really enjoyed her in that one—minus all of her random screams and grunts. Let’s hope she keeps up the momentum.

All in all, I’m looking forward to this movie—I’m just not looking forward to waiting another year until Part 2 releases. (Stupid film companies. Splitting movies that don’t need split.) I’m also happy they’re branching out of Veronica Roth’s world, because, honestly, Allegiant the book was a hot mess to me. I’m also kind of intrigued by the Part 2 title Ascendant. I just hope the ending of that movie is completely different from Roth’s.

My Thoughts on The 5th Wave Trailer

Okay, so before I get into how I feel about The 5^th Wave movie trailer, I have to let you guys know that I haven’t yet read The Infinite Sea, so please don’t spoil me. Thanks!

I’m actually very impressed with this trailer. It doesn’t give away too much (*cough* The Scorch Trials *cough*) and it reminded me of how much I enjoyed the first book. It actually made me wish I could re-read the book so I could remember all that happened. Maybe I’ll just stick with picking up the sequel, instead.

The cast, besides the kid who plays Ben Parrish, actually looks really good. The girl that plays Cassie doesn’t look how I imagined her, but I think she fits well and her acting—from what I’ve seen in the trailers—is really good. She’s definitely better than the girl who plays Tris in Divergent, Shailene Woodley. The only reason I’m mentioning Shailene is because Cassie’s, a.k.a. Chloë Grace Moretz’s, voice when she talks to the audience (I can’t remember the name of that particular film technique at this moment and my film major roommate isn’t here right now.) reminds me of Shailene’s awkward child-like voice, but thankfully her voice sounded normal in the actual movie portion of the trailer.

Back to Ben Parrish who is played by Nick Robinson. He’s young. Like ridiculously young. I can’t remember how old Ben’s supposed to be and I’m too lazy to look it up right now, but this kid looks—to borrow a phrase from one of my friends—like a fetus. But no matter how weird I find Ben, Evan totally makes up for that. Alex Roe isn’t exactly how I imagined Evan looking, but I must say, I’m not disappointed. Especially because of that shirtless back scene. *Swoon*

All in all, I will definitely be going to see this in theaters and maybe I’ll even pick up book two before then. Who knows?
