My Review
I love that these books are full of hot boys. That’s really
all there is to say about the entire series. That’s all anyone needs to know.
Read it for the man-candy.
But seriously, this series is good. It started out following
Anna’s storyline, but kind of weaved off on its own after Erased. I had no idea this was going to happen. I was expecting
another book from Anna’s point of view with just a hefty dose of love triangle
between her, Sam, and Nick. But nope, that’s not what happened at all. And I’m
not really sure how I feel about that.
We never really learn a whole lot about Nick in the previous
two books. He’s just a broody bad boy. He gets a little more depth in this
book, but not enough to really allow me to connect with his character.
Although, I do like the piano bit. It added a lot, even though it was a very
subtle mention.
I think pairing him off with an entirely new character,
while good in that it added a new and exciting plot to the story, left me
feeling kind of “eh.” I was hoping for something that really delved into his
past. Maybe Nick’s mystery-flashback girl was someone he knew before he got
caught up in the Branch business. Someone from his nasty past. That would have
really brought out some character development. Instead, we’re given a quick and
thrown-together romance between a character we want to know more about and a
character we just met who doesn’t have a lot of complexity.
The plot was good. I definitely enjoyed it more than the
second book’s. I liked how Nick got to go off on his own and make a name for
himself without having his posse behind him. (Random question: Is this what
Jennifer Rush is going to keep doing? Are there going to be other books with
Cas and Trev as the main characters?) I think the introduction to a new lab was
needed, and the effects the lab produces were very intriguing. If there are
other books, I can’t wait to see how that aspect of the story plays out.
All in all, Reborn was
good. It was a little hard to get into at first (mostly because of the dual POVs),
but once I got about halfway through, I flew through it. If you enjoyed the
first two books, make sure you snatch up this one. Plus, you know you need that
drool-worthy cover on your shelf.
