An Updated Bookshelf Tour: Bookshelf #3

Like I mentioned a month or so ago, I realized I hadn't shared any up-to-date photos of my bookshelves in a long time, so I figured I'd let you all see what I've got. And again, the shelf I'm sharing pics of today is also a mess. I really, really need a library. *sigh* If you haven't seen the first bookshelf tour, you should totally check it out and gawk at my extreme disorganization. Haha.

This is Bookshelf #3. It contains a mix of genres, from adult romance to middle grade chapter books. It's a variety of stuff that I don't know where to put. And it, like Bookshelf #1 and #2, is temporarily at my parents' house until I get a bigger place. Also, these are primarily books I've already read. Most of my TBR books are at my apartment, so I can actually read them.

Alrighty then, let’s move on to the good stuff.

***

Here's an overview of Bookshelf #2 and #3. I have them situated in the corner, so it was just easier to take a photo of them both together versus separately. As you can see, both are a total mess. Stacks upon stacks of books. It makes my book-loving heart hurt.

The top shelf holds my HP copies. I talked about this shelf with Bookshelf #2's post, so I'll just leave it at that. I will say that this shelf space used to look a lot better before I packed some of my HP swag away. I'm not sure what I'll do with it, either. I still love HP, but you know...

The shelf below that is where my YA contemporary used to live and still does for the most part. But I just threw my Iron Fey FairyLoot copies here since I had some room after doing a YA contemporary unhaul earlier this year.

The next shelf is mostly paranormal romance with a mix of YA fantasy and paranormal. And look! L.J. Smith's Night World series that will never be finished. Gah!

On the middle shelf, there's some YA and a YA/middle grade series called Pendragon by D.J. MacHale. The series is so underrated! Fans of Percy Jackson should definitely check this one out. I'd like to go back and do a re-read of the series one day, but I haven't had time lately.

More paranormal romance here. There's some J.R. Ward and Gena Showalter. There's also some Meg Cabot books, and in the corner you can see my Bailey School Kids set. What a mix of titles. Lol.

Ah, here's a better view of that corner. You can see all the Meg Cabot now. Haha. You can also see the Intertwined series by Gena Showalter. Another unfinished series. Urgh. I hate unfinished series so much.

On the bottom of this shelf, I have some larger hardcovers and paperbacks, like Cassandra Clare's Mortal Instruments books. There are a few other YA fantasy/paranormal hardcovers hiding out here as well..

And, not to be forgotten, we have the Angelfire series in the corner. I remember spending hours online writing comments to try to win a signed edition of all three books. I actually ended up only getting the first two (in separate giveaways), but man, was it cool to have free time like that on my hands.

Oh, and this is a stack of random books that I think I threw on this shelf after I realized I didn't have a place for them anywhere else. I guess I ended up moving the Cassandra Clare boxset that was sitting here in earlier photos. I don't have these shelves at my apartment, so I can't easily check to see.

***

Well, that's the third shelf. I'll eventually get around to sharing pics of my apartment shelves, but I'm experiencing a bit of an issue trying to have a new bookcase delivered right now. You'll eventually get photos, though, I promise!

Do you have any pics of your bookshelves up? If so, link them below so I can check them out. I love looking at pretty book collections.

An Updated Bookshelf Tour: Bookshelf #2

Like I mentioned two weeks ago, I realized I hadn't shared any up-to-date photos of my bookshelves in a long time, so I figured I'd let you all see what I've got. And FYI, these are in less of an order than the first shelf I shared photos of. I really need a library. *sigh* If you haven't seen the first bookshelf tour, you should totally check it out and gawk at my extreme disorganization. Haha.

This is Bookshelf #2. It's mostly my YA sci-fi and paranormal shelf, and it, like Bookshelf #1, is temporarily at my parents' house until I get a bigger place 500 years from now. Everything on it is all out of order.

I actually forgot to take this photo originally, but lucky me, I visited my parents this past weekend and was able to snap a quick pic.

The top shelf holds my HP copies. And yes, JKR is very controversial right now. Basically, I just don't support the franchise anymore in a way that would contribute to her success. I still keep my books and DVDs, as I've already paid for them. Fun fact, I got the second illustrated edition for free when I worked as a temp at Scholastic during my first couple of months living in NYC. The corner was slightly crushed/ripped, and, yay for me, they couldn't sell it with an imperfection!

The shelf below that is mostly YA sci-fi. That's actually what usually goes on this shelf, even when I was still living there. For the most part, it looks the same, except for the random copy of Song of the Sparrow that's hanging out right smack dab in the middle.

The next shelf is a mix of YA paranormal, sci-fi, and fantasy. In fact, a lot of these are books I've had for YEARS. The Rachel Hawkthorne Dark Guardian books are ones I got around my sixteenth birthday. Holy cow! And I think I even got my copy of The Thief before that. It has the original cover!

A lot of paranormal YA going on here. There's some Jennifer Estep, Rachel Vincent, Holly Black, and Julie Kagawa. I feel like these were some of the prime authors during the post-Twilight days in publishing.

For some reason, I almost forgot to include this shelf. In front you'll see The Goddess Test books and the Unearthly trilogy. Unearthly is one of my favorites! I made my high school book club read it back in my senior year.

More YA paranormal, fantasy, and even one dystopian series. And look! There's my favorite werewolf book, Blood and Chocolate. I read that thing back in eighth grade and fell in love. I think it's why I've always loved werewolves more than vampires. #TeamJacob. Lol.

Speaking of Twilight, here are my copies of the original books in the series. They're hidden away at the bottom of the shelves because I have zero room. So sad. I also have the Evernight series and the ACOTAR books down here. It's basically just a random assortment of series.

Behind the random series are my big books. For the most part. Titles include Eragon, Six of Crows, Nightshade, and more. I also have an ARC of Nightshade with the original cover. I desperately want to get my hands on an ARC of Wolfsbane with the original cover too. So if you see any copies floating around out there, you should totally let me know. Same goes for Heather Demetrios's Blood Passage.

Here are some boxsets I have that are sitting in front of these corner shelves. Yep. That's right. They're just piled on the floor. It's terrible. I feel so ashamed. I have the Legend trilogy, The Hunger Games, and below that, you can see the paperback boxsets of The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices. They're barely visible, so it's really just a tiny peek.

And finally, I have a boxset of Jane Austen novels. I've only read one Jane Auston book, Pride & Prejudice, and that was because I LOVE the 2005 Kiera Knightley film version. But I would like to read the others one day, especially since I have these beautiful editions.

***

Well, that's the second shelf. It's a YA buffet. I'll share the other shelves over the coming weeks. I hope you enjoyed!

An Updated Bookshelf Tour: Bookshelf #1

I realized I haven't shared any up-to-date photos of my bookshelves in a long time, so I figured I'd let you all see what I've got. Unfortunately, a lot of these aren't in any order anymore, as I have half of my book collection at my parents' house and the other at my apartment. This means my lovely collection is never in one place, which is quite sad. One day, I'll have a big enough place to have my own home library! That's the dream.

I'm starting off with what I call Bookshelf #1. It's mostly my YA fantasy/paranormal section. However, there's a mix of stuff in there at the moment. Like I said, stuff is all out of order. Oh! And I should mention that 98% of these are books I've already read. Most of my TBR books are at my apartment, so I can actually read them. Haha.

Alrighty then, let’s move on to the good stuff.

Here's a view of the entire bookcase, so you can get a general idea of its overall chaos. And yes, those are remotes on the middle shelf. I don't have a nightstand at my parents' house, so when I visit I have to use that middle shelf as one. I know... It's terrible. Also, that desk isn't there anymore. I gave it to my sister and my parents took it to her house a couple of weeks ago, so I haven't actually seen what my old room looks like since it's been moved.

This top shelf is one of my favorites. It holds some of my pretty, tall YA fantasy books. From left to right, we have Warrior of the Wild; the Red Queen series, including the first two special editions; the Falling Kingdoms series; and the US copy of The City of Brass I got for free at BookCon.

The shelf below that is... surprise! More YA fantasy. As well as the FairyLoot copies of the Daevabad trilogy.

This shelf is a mix of fantasy and paranormal. I also have the three fairies from Sleeping Beauty here as well. I couldn't find the box for these three Pops to put them back in my closet, so they just chill out here while all the rest are currently in temporary storage. Normally, my shelves are overflowing with books and Pops.

Here's a view of what's behind some of the other books from the above photo. The White Rabbit Chronicles by Gena Showalter is one I really want to reread one day.

The middle shelf. What's unique about this one, compared to the others, is that it's bowing pretty bad. So I had to take a lot of books off of it to keep it from bowing further, as, unlike the other shelves that are removable, I can't just flip this one over. I've had this bookcase for YEARS. It was originally my older sister's, so it's held up for a long time. Right now, it's mostly holding smaller paperback fantasy books. Please ignore the remotes, FitBit watch, and random tube of paint. Lol.

Next up is, again, more YA fantasy and paranormal. It's kind of a mix of series. A lot of which I'd love to properly display one day. I used to have some of these displayed on top of that desk, but I got rid of the desk, so I"ve had to squish everything back onto these shelves. Boo...

Here's an image of what's behind all of the books up in the front. You'll see one of my more recent favorites, Heather Demetrios's Dark Caravan Cycle. That series has really stuck with me over the past few years, when I read it back in 2018-ish.

Now, this is just a stack upon a stack. Look at this chaos. There's so much here. Ugh. I hate having books displayed this way, but I officially have no room at my parents' anymore. Though, I have told them that with that desk gone, I could add another bookcase to the room, even though I don't live there anymore. They didn't like that. My mom wants to put exercise equipment in there. Haha.

And finally, you'll see a very dark picture of what's behind the other books. These are so hidden away that it's just sad. I desperately need someone to pay for me to get a library with a nice rolling ladder, where I can read and just stare at my lovely books. They don't deserve to be shoved away, especially as some of these are books I really love.

***

Okay, so that's the first shelf. I'll share the others over the coming weeks. I haven't even started taking pictures of the ones in my apartment yet, so that'll be a super fun task. (Please note that I am being sarcastic as my apartment shelves are even more chaotic than the ones at my parents' house.) I hope you enjoyed!

Bookshelves! Aka Pictures of Bookcase #7!

It’s time for me to share bookcases #7, the apartment bookcase! If you didn’t see bookcase #1, #2, #3, and #4-6 in all their bookish glory, you can check them out on the blog.

For those of you who don’t know, I moved to NYC this past summer. Moving meant I couldn’t take my books with me. Thus, I left 99% of my books at my parents’ house. It’s sad to be away from my preciouses for so long. This post though, is the bookcase that is currently living with me in my apartment. I’ve only had it for a few weeks, but it’s already full. Yikes.

My face when I look at my shelves.

Below is the full bookcase. It’s only three shelves tall. I should have bought a taller one.

Okay, now we can get to the shelf breakdown.

There’s absolutely no order to this bookcase except for this very top shelf. It contains my currently library checkouts and a book I plan on reading soon, Freedom’s Slave, which I just bought from Book Outlet.Oh, and Toothless is guarding my DVDs. ;)

The next shelf contains some tall hardcovers, like Iron Gold and Unearthed. There are also some large paperbacks and some regular paperbacks.

The second shelf contains regular-sized hardcovers and contemporary books. Along with some paperbacks and a mass market of Gena Showalter’s contemporary romance series.

The bottom shelf has more large paperbacks (I need to put Ruin next to the first book, Malice) and some recent YA purchases from Book Outlet on the right side. Oh, and there’s also my Scholastic glass from when I worked there as a temp.

Whew! Well, those are all of my bookcases! Have you done any bookshelf tours/pics? Share in the comments. I’d love to check out your shelves!

Bookshelves! Aka Pictures of Bookcases #4, #5, and #6!

It’s time for me to share bookcases #4, #5, and #6! If you didn’t see bookcase #1, #2, and #3 in all their bookish glory, you can check them out on the blog.

For those of you who don’t know, I moved to NYC this past summer. Moving meant I couldn’t take my books with me. Thus, I left 99% of my books at my parents’ house. It’s sad to be away from my preciouses for so long.

My face when I'm staring at my shelves

Because I can’t see my shelves as often as I’d like (because we all know us book collectors love to just stare and drool over our collections), I took some pics of my bookshelves. Just so I can remember them later. I thought I’d share these photos with you guys, as I know the second-best thing to staring at our own collections is staring at another book collectors’ shelves. ;)

On days that I don’t have other posts planned, I’ll share photos of a bookcase. Well, in this case, I’ll share photos of my smaller bookcases. This will be bookcase three, four, and five. They primarily hold my contemporary, fantasy, and children’s books, but I also have some other stuff on them.

Let’s start with the contemporary bookcase.

The very top shelf on this bookcase is a stack of contemporary TBR books. There used to be a lot more on this shelf, but I got rid of a lot of titles in my unhaul.I just don’t read a lot of contemporary anymore.

The first actual shelf contains my YA contemporary hardcovers. There’s some Rainbow Rowell, Jenny Han, and Katie McGarry.

Below that shelf are contemporary paperbacks, like Jamie McGuire, Jenny Han, and Gayle Forman.

The bottom shelf on this case (it’s only a three-shelf bookcase) contains my Twilight and L.J. Smith books.

Next is the fantasy “bookcase.” Although, it’s not really a bookcase. My mom got this wire-frame thing from her work and put it in my room while I was gone at university. Since it was just left there, I decided I should use it to hold some books. ;)

My window is right behind this bookcase, so the sun made taking this pic very difficult.

Currently, it holds my Narnia collection, boxsets of Cassandra Clare’s books, Tolkien books, and T.A. Barron books.

After that, there’s the closet bookcase. Inside my closet, I have a bookcase my dad gave me. It holds mostly middle grade and children’s books along with the romance novels I don’t want my parents to see. Not that I’m ashamed of the books, I just really don’t want to explain what they’re about to my parents. Ick.

It's super dark in my closet, so I had to use a nightlight for the pic.

So, the first shelf contains some Gail Carsen Levine, Amanda Marrone, and Cara Lynn Shultz. The middle shelf contains mostly Gena Showalter, J.R. Ward, and Kresley Cole mass market romances, while the bottom has some signed or special ARCs and a boxset of Margaret Peterson Haddix’s Shadow Children books.

***

Whew, well that’s the last of the bookcases that I have at my parents’ house. Soon I’ll show you the bookcase I have in my NYC apartment. Do you organize your books by genre? Let me know in the comments!

Bookshelves! Aka Pictures of Bookcase #3

It’s time for me to share bookcase #3! If you didn’t see my other bookcases, you can check out pics of Bookcase 1 and Bookcase 2 on the blog.

For those of you who don’t know, I moved to NYC this past summer. Moving meant I couldn’t take my books with me. Thus, I left 99% of my books at my parents’ house. It’s sad to be away from my preciouses for so long.

My face when I stare at my shelves.

Because I can’t see my shelves as often as I’d like (because we all know us book collectors love to just stare and drool over our collections), I took some pics of my bookshelves. Just so I can remember them later. I thought I’d share these photos with you guys, as I know the second-best thing to staring at our own collections is staring at another book collectors’ shelves. ;)

The full shelf

On days that I don’t have other posts planned, I’ll share photos of a bookcase. I currently have five-and-a-half-ish bookcases that I’m planning on sharing. This will be bookcase three. It primarily holds the sci-fi and paranormal books that I’ve read.

The very top shelf on this bookcase contains my Meg Cabot collection, minus a few of her paranormal YA books that are on Bookcase #1.

Next, there are some YA science fiction books, including Jennifer L. Armentrout, Brandon Sanderson, and Melissa Landers.

The next shelf down contains more YA sci-fi. This shelf contains Alexandra Bracken, Kasie West, and D.J. MacHale.

Now, is where we get into my vampire collection from the Twilight-esque days. We’ve got Richelle Mead and P.C. and Kristin Cast here.

Down to the next shelf is just a random mix of paranormal and fantasy titles. I’ve got everything from Gena Showalter to Cinda Williams Chima on this one.

And, the last shelf is, again, a mix of genres and titles in the YA category. Lauren DeStefano, Maggie Stiefvater, and Michelle Hodkin are all featured on this particular shelf.

***

Whew, well that’s bookcase two. How do you organize your TBR shelf? Or do you not even have a TBR shelf? Let me know in the comments!
