My Review:

It's the end of a series. So sad. I remember reading Crave and Covet and thinking that these books were sooooo good! Tristan and Savannah were friends, who weren't friends, who wanted to be more than friends and everything was just so cute! But then something got kind of twisted in Consume. 

According to Goodreads it took me almost 3 months to read this book. THREE MONTHS! I'll admit, I've sat on books for longer (not literally because that is some major book abuse). However, I remember reading the first two in less than a day each. So what went wrong in this one?

First off, the book was all over the place. The time was totally whacky, because at least in the first two Savannah and Tristan were in school and there was some sort of seasonal background there. In Consume it's just really hard to keep track of what day/month/year it is. And then the romance in this book just felt a lot cheesier than it ever felt in the first two.

Those things said, it was still a good read. It summed up every plot line, maybe a little too neatly at some points, but it still worked. I loved the beginning scenes, that I can't tell you about because there's some major spoilage involved. And Emily, Tristan's sister, is such an awesome character. She may be in a tough spot, but she's going to stand up for herself and what she believes in and I love that about her.

All in all, it was good. It filled in the holes that were left from books 1 and 2 and I'm satisfied with the end result. I'm still a little sad that this witch and vampire combo is over though. But, they're still gonna look super pretty on my shelves! :)

Ruby will be faced with a terrible choice, one that may mean giving up her only chance at a life worth living.

My Review:

So I'd heard about this book from other bloggers and reviewers. It was gushed over A LOT. However, I don't think it lived up to the hype. Don't get me wrong, it was a good book, but that was just it, it was a good  book, nothing more.  

The premise of the book is awesome! Teenagers who have powers and a dystopian universe, sounds like reading heaven. And for the most part it was pretty nice. As I got further into the story, I found some things that kind of angered me though. For one, Ruby is supposed to be 10 years old when her entire life changes. Her education was supposed to have stopped there. BUT she still talked and acted like a normal teenager. She used larger words than even I know at some points. It was kind of irritating.

The characters in the story were definitely lovable. Ruby was totally mistreated, like most of the characters were, and you just want her to find her happily ever after, but that would make a super boring series. Liam was... Liam. He's sweet and kind, but he totally fights against "the man" with every thought. Chubs was probably my favorite character, sure he's a tad abrasive at times, but he reminds me of what I would act like in that situation, like a realistic, rational human being. And Zu and her obsession with pink was totally adorable!

For me the plot didn't have enough movement in it. They traveled from place to place, but it kind of just seemed like they jumped from these places, there was no real description (I totally hope that makes sense.). Also, the most frustrating thing about this story was that there were parts of the action that I couldn't follow because it seemed like pieces were left out. If you read it, or have read it, take a look at the part where Ruby slips with Liam there or even just any action scene.

All in all, this book probably would have been better if I hadn't thought that it was going to be such a fantastic read. But since it was only $0.99 on Amazon (it's gone up now), I think it was worth the buy.

Hmm... Another Persephone/Hades story. HECK! YES! I love mythology and having it come together with high school and cute boys is the cherry on top of my double-book-sundae (I don't know what that means any more than you do.). I'm not too terribly thrilled over the cover. I like pretty dresses on my myth books, but I'm sure the content is superb!

My Favorite 2014 Covers (So Far)

 2014 is a few months away, but already there are some gorgeous covers popping up from various publishers. I've been eagerly anticipating some of these books, and I can't wait to stroke their marvelous beauty like a crazy, deranged cat lady - only with hundreds of books instead of kitties.

He. Has. A. Tattoo. Yum. This cover is so simple, but it's so flippin' amazing! The white and the red! And the author's name! Because, let's be honest here, anything that has Armentrout's name on it is something I'm going to read, even if the cover looked like poop.

It's cool colors on top and warm colors on bottom. It's lovely. There's stars and flowers and a hot guy and fluffy clouds and a hot guy. The only thing that I don't like about this cover is the girl's pants. Why? Because when you first look at it, it kind of looks like she's not wearing any. *GASP!*

Was I terribly thrilled about this cover at first? No. I'm not a super huge fan of inanimate objects on covers. However, this one grew on me. Quickly. I'm not sure what it is that got me to like it. If it's the lighting, the colors or the author. All I do know is that I will be buying it.
