"Stacking the
Shelves" is a weekly haul meme hosted by Tynga's Reviews and Reading Reality. It allows book
buyers to share their accumulation of books with the online book-loving
community.
Well, this past week hasn't been fun. In fact, I'm writing this week's post early because I have to travel to get dental surgery. Disgusting. It was very unexpected but also not unexpected at the same time. But, let's focus on fun things, like books. They're all that's holding me together at this point. Haha.
First up in this week's haul, I have two special edition sets. I received my Eternal Embers set of the Green Creek series by TJ Klune, and oh my goodness. They're so pretty! I was reluctant to order them originally because they didn't have dust jackets, but I'm so glad I did. The art is gorgeous and they feel so buttery soft. No regrets for that purchase. Now, I do kind of have small regrets for my next purchase. I bought Books for Days Crate's set of the Covenant series by Jennifer L. Armentrout. These aren't ugly, but I do think book one's design is an eye sore when compared to the other four books in the series. I don't understand why it's light blue with no border on the spine when the others all have a more warm tone with borders on the spine. The set did come with a nice print and some overlays, though.
Next, I have a book that should have been in last week's haul, The Summer Palace novella by C.S. Pacat. I've been meaning to purchase it for a while, so I placed an order on Amazon when the author mentioned the price would be going up soon. Gotta get things cheap when I can. I also received my preorder incentives for Silver Elite by Dani Francis. There's been a lot of hype and a lot of controversy surrounding this book, so I'm thinking about holding off on reading it for a bit until things die down.
And here I have a book I've struggled to get my hands on, What Fury Brings by Tricia Levenseller. I haven't wanted an ARC so badly in a long time. Well, at least not one that's not a JLA ARC. I wasn't approved for What Fury Brings on NetGalley, and I don't think the publisher wanted to send me a copy since I'm just a lowly book blogger with poor engagement stats, but I managed to trade someone for their copy. Thankfully. I hope I really love this one. But the reason I traded for it, besides desperately wanting to read it, was because I have like five copies coming from various subscription books and other places, so I wanted to make sure it was worth the money.
I also received an ARC of Voidwalker by S.A. Maclean from Orbit. Thank you, Orbit! This book, like What Fury Brings, is going to be in a subscription box, so I'd like to read it before it releases in August for that reason, in addition to just wanting to read it because it looks good. The cover is very pretty. It's also ginormous. I really need to stop requesting giant ARCs. It's slowing down my dream to read my TBR books.
And finally, I have my PrettyGal Pin card set of the Gods & Monsters characters from Amber V. Nicole's series. I only know who three of these characters are, as I've only read book one, but I'm excited to get to the sequels. People have been going feral over the twists and turns in these books.
Well, that's all for me. What books have
you bought/received lately?
