Waiting on Wednesday: The Orphan Queen by Jodi Meadows

"Waiting On Wednesday" is a weekly event, hosted over at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases we're eagerly anticipating.

This week, what's really got my pages in a twist is...

The Orphan Queen
(The Orphan Queen #1)
Publication Date: March 10, 2015
Hardcover, 400 pages, Katherine Tegan Books
Genres: Fantasy, Young Adult

Wilhelmina has a hundred identities.

She is a princess. When the Indigo Kingdom conquered her homeland, Wilhelmina and other orphaned children of nobility were taken to Skyvale, the Indigo Kingdom’s capital. Ten years later, they are the Ospreys, experts at stealth and theft. With them, Wilhelmina means to take back her throne.

She is a spy. Wil and her best friend, Melanie, infiltrate Skyvale Palace to study their foes. They assume the identities of nobles from a wraith-fallen kingdom, but enemies fill the palace, and Melanie’s behavior grows suspicious. With Osprey missions becoming increasingly dangerous and their leader more unstable, Wil can’t trust anyone.

She is a threat. Wraith is the toxic by-product of magic, and for a century using magic has been forbidden. Still the wraith pours across the continent, reshaping the land and animals into fresh horrors. Soon it will reach the Indigo Kingdom. Wilhelmina’s magic might be the key to stopping the wraith, but if the vigilante Black Knife discovers Wil’s magic, she will vanish like all the others

Jodi Meadows introduces a vivid new fantasy full of intrigue, romance, dangerous magic, and one girl’s battle to reclaim her place in the world.

My Thoughts

I haven’t read Jodi Meadows’ other books, so I’m not sure about her writing style, but I’ve been seriously loving me some fantasy lately, and this looks promising. Plus, it’s got a beautiful cover. ;)

What book are you waiting for this Wednesday?

  1. I want The Orphan Queen SO bad! I got it from Edelweiss and was devastated to find out it wasn't the whole book. I love Jodi Meadows, her writing is gorgeous. You should pick up Incarnate, it's really good. Very original. Great pick!

  2. This is at the top of my "To Read" list for next year! I've never read her stuff either, but if the cover is any indication of awesomeness than it's going to be epic! lol, good luck getting your hands on the whole thing!!
