Stacking the Shelves: The New Bookstore Edition

"Stacking the Shelves" is a weekly haul meme hosted by Tynga's Reviews and Reading Reality. It allows book buyers to share their accumulation of books with the online book-loving community.

Ack! First week of June is done. This year is going by so fast. It's nuts. Nothing crazy has been happening over here. It's the same old thing at the moment. I am trying to play catch-up with a bunch of home tasks, though. Hopefully, I'll be able to get completely caught up by the end of summer. But, if the stupid ants getting into my library room are any indication, progress won't be possible until the fall, sadly. I hate bugs.

For this week's haul, I actually didn't expect to have any physical books. However, I forgot a new used bookstore opened in my city, so I needed to go visit, especially after the last indie bookstore in our area closed without me even knowing. So, when I went, I thought I'd get a book to support the store. Butcher and the Blackbird by Brynne Weaver was the one I chose. I've seen it around, and it sounded decent, so I thought it would be a good, cheaper option while I'm trying to save money and not have as many books on my TBR.

And lastly, I have the ebooks. Our Vicious Oaths by N.E. Davenport is a NetGalley ARC. The book releases in October, so thankfully, I have some time to get caught up on some other things I need to read before I get to this one. It does sound good, though. I also think it might be in a FairyLoot sub. That's just speculation. I have no concrete evidence. From Kindle Unlimited, I got Wrath of the Damned by Ella Fields as well. I finished the first book a couple of days ago, and I needed to decide if I wanted to purchase the upcoming FairyLoot edition for the sequel. I'm still on the fence, but I'm leaning towards no. It's a fun duology, but I really need to cut down on the spending and the amount of books I have taking up space, so I need to be more brutal when it comes to purchasing.

Well, that's all for me. What books have you bought/received lately?

  1. Ooh nice! A new bookstore discovery is always nice, but sad to hear the previous one you visited closed! It can be hard trying to support an indie store and save money and not keep endlessly adding to the TBR pile! I spontaneously purchased this one last year as well but still haven't gotten around it to! It sounded interesting and people were raving about it so I thought why not?

Hope you enjoy your new reads!
