There have been a couple more cover reveals in the past few
weeks (or covers that I’ve just recently discovered), so I thought I’d share
the pretties with you and let you know what I think.
(The
Villains #2)
Publication
Date: September 25, 2018
Hardcover, 400 pages, Tor Books
Genres:
Adult, Sci-Fi
Eli Ever and Victor Vale were only
medical students when their mutual discovery that near-death experiences can,
under the right conditions, manifest extraordinary abilities.
They were best friends, and rivals,
and then enemies. They were dead, then alive, and then---Eli killed Victor,
once and for all.
Or so he thought---but Sydney
Clarke felt otherwise, and used her own superpower to tip the scales. Now, a
trio hides in the shadows, while another takes advantages of post-death life to
take over the city of Merit.
If there can be life after
death—will there be calm after vengeance, or will chaos rule?
My Thoughts
I haven’t read any Schwab books, but I will. One day. This
cover is very red. And, if you know me, you know that red isn’t my favorite
color. It’s actually one of my least favorite colors. I’m just not a fan like
75% of the time. I think I might buy the UK covers for this one, depending on
their new design. Not 100% sure if they’re redesigning their covers.

(Rosemarked #2)
Publication Date: November 6, 2018
Hardcover, 304
pages, Disney-Hyperion
Genres: YA, Fantasy
The mission was a failure. Even
though Zivah and Dineas discovered a secret that could bring down the empire,
their information is useless without proof. Now, with their cover blown and
their quest abandoned, their only remaining hope is to get home before Ampara
brings the full might of its armies against their peoples.
As Shidadi and Dara alike prepare
for war, Zivah and Dineas grapple with the toll of their time in the capital.
After fighting alongside the Amparans against his own kin, can Dineas convince
the Shidadi—and himself—where his loyalties lie? After betraying her healer’s
vows in Sehmar City, can Zivah find a way to redeem herself—especially when the
Dara ask her to do the unthinkable? And after reluctantly falling in love, what
will the two do with their lingering feelings, now that the Dineas from Sehmar
City is gone forever? Time is running out for all of them, but especially Zivah
whose plague symptoms surface once again. Now, she must decide how she’ll
define the life she has left.
Together, healer and warrior must
find the courage to save their people, expose the truth, and face the
devastating consequences headed their way.
My Thoughts
I can’t remember if I shared this one on the blog or not,
but, just in case, I thought I’d talk about it. Once again, I haven’t read the
first book, nor do I own it, but I plan to own the whole series once it comes
out. I don’t love this cover as much as the first book (brown is not a
flattering book cover color. (*cough* Avenged
by Amy Tintera *cough*)

(Breaker of Empires #2)
Publication
Date: October 23, 2018
Hardcover, 432 pages, Tor Books
Genres:
Adults, Sci-Fi
Richard Baker continues the
adventures of Sikander North in Restless
Lightning, the second book in his new
military science fiction series Breaker of Empires.
Lieutenant Sikander North has
avoided an outright court martial and finds himself assigned to a remote
outpost in the crumbling, alien Tzoru Empire—where the navy sends trouble-makers
to be forgotten. When Sikander finds himself in the middle of an alien
uprising, he, once again, must do the impossible: smuggle an alien ambassador
off-world, break a siege, and fight the irrational prejudice of his superior
officers. The odds are against his success, and his choices could mean
disgrace—or redemption.
My Thoughts
I have my eye on the first book in this series. The yellow
cover is absolutely stunning. This one is good too. I like the green.
I downloaded the first book a while back, so I’m excited to
binge read them both. Also, once I have them in physical form, they’ll look
great on my shelves. ;)

(Mask of Shadows #2)
Publication Date: August 1, 2018
Hardcover, 416
pages, Delacorte
Genres: YA, Historical/Fantasy
As Opal, Sal finally has the power,
prestige, and most importantly the ability to hunt the lords who killed their
family. But Sal has to figure out who the culprits are before putting them
down. Which means trying to ignore the fact that Elise is being kept a virtual
prisoner, and that the queen may have ulterior motives.
And the tales coming out of north
are baffling. Talk of dark spirits, missing children, and magic abound. As Sal
heads north toward their ruined homeland and the lords who destroyed
everything, they learn secrets and truths that can't be ignored.
My Thoughts
The theme of this week’s cover reveal theme seems to be
sequels I haven’t read yet. Yep. That means I haven’t read Mask of Shadows. I
don’t own it either.
I actually forgot about Mask
of Shadows and the sequel until I saw this book’s cover on NetGalley. It’s
such an awesome cover that I decided to invest in the series at some point. It
won’t be super soon, but some day, I will read these books. Some day…

I haven't read any of the first books in these series. I do want to read Schwab someday soon. I love red but am not a huge fan of that cover either.
