More cover reveals! Including the cover for my most
anticipated release of 2018!
(The Shadow Game #1)
Publication
Date: April 10, 2018
Hardcover, 400 pages, Harlequin Teen
Genres:
YA, Fantasy
Welcome to the City of Sin, where
casino families reign, gangs infest the streets…
and secrets hide in every shadow.
Enne Salta was raised as a proper
young lady, and no lady would willingly visit New Reynes, the so-called City of
Sin. But when her mother goes missing, Enne must leave her finishing school—and
her reputation—behind to follow her mother’s trail to the city where no one
survives uncorrupted.
Frightened and alone, her only lead
is a name: Levi Glaisyer. Unfortunately, Levi is not the gentleman she
expected—he’s a street lord and a con man. Levi is also only one payment away
from cleaning up a rapidly unraveling investment scam, so he doesn't have time
to investigate a woman leading a dangerous double life. Enne's offer of
compensation, however, could be the solution to all his problems.
Their search for clues leads them
through glamorous casinos, illicit cabarets and into the clutches of a ruthless
mafia donna. As Enne unearths an impossible secret about her past, Levi's
enemies catch up to them, ensnaring him in a vicious execution game where the
players always lose. To save him, Enne will need to surrender herself to the
city…
And she’ll need to play.
My Thoughts
Ace of
Shades is not my most anticipated release
of 2018, but it sounds like it could be a pretty good read. I love criminals in
books, especially when they’re the sexy bad-boy type. ;)
I am a little sad that this book has a red cover. (Red is my
least favorite color.) I guess I can understand why, since gambling is always
associated with the color red. But, it still looks nice.

Leah Burke—girl-band drummer,
master of deadpan, and Simon Spier’s best friend from the award-winning Simon
vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda—takes center
stage in this novel of first love and senior-year angst.
When it comes to drumming, Leah
Burke is usually on beat—but real life isn’t always so rhythmic. An anomaly in
her friend group, she’s the only child of a young, single mom, and her life is
decidedly less privileged. She loves to draw but is too self-conscious to show
it. And even though her mom knows she’s bisexual, she hasn’t mustered the
courage to tell her friends—not even her openly gay BFF, Simon.
So Leah really doesn’t know what to
do when her rock-solid friend group starts to fracture in unexpected ways. With
prom and college on the horizon, tensions are running high. It’s hard for Leah
to strike the right note while the people she loves are fighting—especially
when she realizes she might love one of them more than she ever intended.
My Thoughts
The cover for this one threw me off a little bit. I guess I
wasn’t expecting it to look so similar to Simon
in its overall design. I love the colors and the font. What I don’t love is
that stupid sticker. And, it better be a sticker and not a permanent piece of
the cover. I will riot if it is.

VICTORY COMES AT A PRICE.
Mare Barrow learned this all too
well when Cal’s betrayal nearly destroyed her. Now determined to protect her
heart—and secure freedom for Reds and newbloods like her—Mare resolves to
overthrow the kingdom of Norta once and for all… starting with the crown on
Maven’s head.
But no battle is won alone, and
before the Reds may rise as one, Mare must side with the boy who broke her
heart in order to defeat the boy who almost broke her. Cal’s powerful Silver
allies, alongside Mare and the Scarlet Guard, prove a formidable force. But
Maven is driven by an obsession so deep, he will stop at nothing to have Mare
as his own again, even if it means demolishing everything—and everyone—in his
path.
War is coming, and all Mare has
fought for hangs in the balance. Will victory be enough to topple the Silver
kingdoms? Or will the little lightning girl be forever silenced?
In the epic conclusion to Victoria
Aveyard’s stunning series, Mare must embrace her fate and summon all her power…
for all will be tested, but not all will survive.
My Thoughts
LOOK AT IT! It’s an actual book! I’m finally going to get my
hands on the last book in this godforsaken series! I feel like I’ve waited
years!
In case you haven’t realized it yet, this is my most
anticipated book of 2018.
I’m in love with this cover. I like the electricity and the
blood with the dark purply-black background. The only thing that makes me sad
about this cover is the title’s font. All of the other books in the series had
black font, and this one doesn’t (obviously because it wouldn’t show up on the
background). But this means the spines will look different. *sigh*

There you go.
Those are some new covers. At least two of them were revealed this week. I’m
not sure, though, when Ace of Shades’s
cover was debuted.
Any favorite of
the three? Mine’s War Storm, hands
down.
