2013 Must-Haves

We all have those books that we just can't wait to get our hands on and these are mine:

Just look at this cover, isn't it dreamy. *Sigh* Plus the storyline sounds good, too.

Tempest was a total surprise for me. So I'm super-duper excited to read more about Jackson's adventures.

Under the Never Sky was beautiful and crazy and I just loved it, so naturally the sequel would have to be on my list of anticapted 2013 releases.

Have you read the first book? If you have you know why I want this.

With All My Soul by Rachel Vincent

I've been addicted to this series since book one and the last installment is going to answer some major questions and I can't wait to see the chaos the answers cause.

The Collector by Victoria Scott

This book's plot sounds great, but honestly, I think I would buy it even if it sounded totally ridiculous because this cover is pure genius.

Unbreakable by Elizabeth Norris

Just amazing, right?

Sweet Peril by Wendy Higgins

Read the first book, loved it. Can't wait to read some more Kaidan.

School Spirits by Rachel Hawkins

The Hex Hall series was hilarious and awesome, so this is an obvious must-have.

Awaken by Meg Cabot

It's Meg freakin' Cabot. There's no explanation needed.

Dare You To by Katie McGarry

Pushing the Limits was a work of literary genius.

A Trick of the Light by Lois Metzger

I don't know what it is about this book, but I just WANT it.

And that completes my 2013 must-haves. Not counting the books that don't have covers yet, like Origin by Jennifer L. Armentrout and Endless Knight by Kresley Cole.

Poison Princess Review

#1 New York Times bestselling author Kresley Cole introduces The Arcana Chronicles, post-apocalyptic tales filled with riveting action, the dark mysticism of Tarot cards, and breathtaking romance.

She could save the world—or destroy it.

Sixteen year old Evangeline “Evie” Greene leads a charmed life, until she begins experiencing horrifying hallucinations. When an apocalyptic event decimates her Louisiana hometown, Evie realizes her hallucinations were actually visions of the future—and they’re still happening. Fighting for her life and desperate for answers, she must turn to her wrong-side-of-the-bayou classmate: Jack Deveaux.

But she can’t do either alone.

With his mile-long rap sheet, wicked grin, and bad attitude, Jack is like no boy Evie has ever known. Even though he once scorned her and everything she represented, he agrees to protect Evie on her quest. She knows she can’t totally depend on Jack. If he ever cast that wicked grin her way, could she possibly resist him?

Who can Evie trust?

As Jack and Evie race to find the source of her visions, they meet others who have gotten the same call. An ancient prophesy is being played out, and Evie is not the only one with special powers. A group of twenty-two teens has been chosen to reenact the ultimate battle between good and evil. But it’s not always clear who is on which side….

My Review:

Let me just start off by saying that I LOVE Kresley Cole's adult books, so going into this book I absolutely knew without a doubt that I wouldn't regret reading it.

The beginning of the book was amazing! There was the typical bad-boy-meets-girl scenario but Jack Deveaux is anything but typical. Every word out of his mouth had me sighing and laughing and just wanting one of my own. His character is just pure genius! And if you don't believe me check out Jack's Top Ten Tips to Win Over a Girl here. Did you read it? Because that #1 is pretty much how Jack is throughout the whole story. He's lovely.

Okay, I promised myself that I would make this an actual review and not just a total fan-girl over Jack so let's talk about the plot. Like I said before the first part of the book was great. It was an average high school setting which I really liked, then something weird happened. We move forward in time and everything's completely changed. And this isn't a gradual change, but an all-of-the-sudden-holy-crap-what's-going-on change. I didn't like how it happened but once I got the gist of the story I came to accept it.

All in all this book was another amazing addition to the greatness that is Kresley Cole's books. Reading it will definitely brighten your day and make you wish you had your very own Jack Deveaux.

4/5 stars

*Note: I received a copy of this book from the publisher. This in no way altered my opinion/review.
