My Review:

Demons and angels have become a popular subject in YA lately. The Mephisto Covenant hopped on that train but it didn't take the full ride. Translation: This book is totally different from all other angel/demon books out there.

This book series, from what I can tell, is going to be written much like an adult paranormal romance series, that is, there is going to be a book for every brother and his love interest. Book one features Sasha and Jax who introduce us to the world of the Mephisto Covenant and all of the tortured and completely irresistable brothers.

Sasha is a normal girl who has to move in with her long-lost relatives who are super creepy and the story goes on a spiral from there. The plot of the book while original, didn't quite draw me in as much as I would have liked. Plus, the way some things were described, like the creepy cousins for instance, had my brain totally cringing. It was just weird and gross. However, the story was fun and the romance was cute so I got past it.

I recommend this book for anyone who wants to see a different story appear in the angel world.

I've been wanting to read this book for a while now but every time I've either gone to a bookstore or shopped online I never seem to have enough money to squeeze in this demonic treat. And I really need to find a way to get my stubby hands on this because once I read the first book I can buy the second one, the one with the totally rockin' cover.

But I’m also the girl the Reapers of Chaos want dead in the worst way. The Reapers are the baddest of the bad, the people who murdered my mom. So why do they have it in for me?

It turns out my mom hid a powerful artifact called the Helheim Dagger before she died. Now, the Reapers will do anything to get it back. They think I know where the dagger is hidden, but this is one thing I can’t use my magic to find. All I do know is that the Reapers are coming for me—and I’m in for the fight of my life.

My Review:

Be ye warned, SPOILERS may lie here.

First of all, this series is really cute. It combines humor and kicking butt in a way that makes you have to keep reading no matter how much you need to do that AP English essay.

Gwen Frost is still a sarcastic, caring teenager. She knows that there's a problem to be solved and she gets to the bottom of it, no matter who wants to get in her way. Her relationships, however are another story entirely. Her friends are pulling away from her for reasons she can't quite determine and Logan, my darling Logan, can't seem to make up his mind when it comes to this gypsy detective. But all of this teenage drama definitely keeps you turning pages because I HAD to know what the heck was going through Logan's thick head whenever he made a decision that I didn't particularly enjoy at the moment.

The plot of the book was extremely similar to that of the first and second book. It seems like Gwen always figures something out and then the bad guys make a move that thwarts what she just figured out and then Gwen comes back and wins. I seriously wish that Estep would find a new way to tell her story.

All in all though, this book is a fun, light read. The series is a quick read for anyone interested in mythology, gypsies or even hunky boy Spartans. And I simply can't wait for Crimson Frost

(Book #4) to be released.

 So, does an 18-year-old wanting a Barbie seem strange to you, or are you like me so much that you want it too? I'd buy it now but it's not going to be released until September and maybe I'll grow up enough by then to not want it anymore. (Like that'll happen. ;) )

Onyx Review

Being connected to Daemon Black sucks…

No one is who they seem. And not everyone will survive the lies.

My Review:

Daemon Black is back! He's hot, snarky and totally whipped!

Katy is the same girl that we met in Obsidian. She stands up for herself and knows what she wants and when she wants it. And what she wants is for Daemon to quit being such a jerk. He starts wooing her. He actually buys her food and asks her to eat it from his mouth like a sexy Lady and the Tramp scene. He can't stay away from Katy and its so cute to see this womanizer following her around like a lost puppy.

The plot of the book had me a little upset. While it was good, it was extremely predictable. And of course Daemon had to be right and Katy got blamed for everything that happened to go wrong despite Daemon making some bad choices as well. And poor Dee! (That's all I can say without getting into some major spoilage.)

All of these elements came together to make a good book. It most definitely wasn't a great book. The first one was epic, but this just kind of fell short, despite Daemon being as adorable as he can be.

Underworld Review

Underworld by Meg Cabot

And unless Pierce is careful, this time there’ll be no escape.

My Review:

I wasn't sure what to think with Underworld. This book starts off directly after the events of Abandon. You're thrown right back into the world of Pierce and John, a.k.a. the Underworld.

Pierce is still a strong character that can make things happen when she wants to, but during the course of the book she comes to rely upon John more and more. He gets to throw around those bad guys while she sits back and watches the gloriousness that his John Hayden. Lucky girl. ;) Of course John and Pierce have their arguments, who wouldn't have a little something to say to the guy who drug her down to the underworld for the second time? Their relationship is a little wacky, but it makes fpr great reading material. Hee hee...

The plot of this book was fast! It went ten times faster than the first book and the first book seemed to fly by as well. I almost cried finishing Underworld simply because I couldn't comprehend how it had ended so suddenly. Also, the climax of the book wasn't as big as I would have imagined. Something about it just didn't trigger my awesomeness meter.

So while Underworld was a good, quick story, it didn't perfectly hold up to Abandon. It was still a good book, just not a great one. That being said, I can't wait until the third and final installment, Awaken.
