Would you like to see my bookshelves?

I've been watching a lot of bookshelf tours lately, because I am an avid book peeper. (I can't help it they're just soooo pretty!) And I realized that I need to do one. However, I don't want to do one if there isn't any interest because yes, I am lazy. :)

So if you would like to see me in all my bookshelf glory, just leave a comment saying "Yes!" or "Ick!" (for "NO I don't want to see your bookshelves, you weirdo!") or perhaps "I really just don't care."

If you do want to see my books, would you like me to pull out the books so you can look at the covers like some bloggers do, just skim through the books, or a combination of both? Tell me what you desire and it shall be yours!

If there is a high interest, I will post my bookshelf tour as soon as I get my new shelf, which should be in the next week or so.

Persephone Triplets

New from #1 New York Times bestselling author Meg Cabot, a dark, fantastical story about this world . . . and the underworld.

Though she tries returning to the life she knew before the accident, Pierce can't help but feel at once a part of this world, and apart from it. Yet she's never alone . . . because someone is always watching her. Escape from the realm of the dead is impossible when someone there wants you back.

But now she's moved to a new town. Maybe at her new school, she can start fresh. Maybe she can stop feeling so afraid.

Only she can't. Because even here, he finds her. That's how desperately he wants her back. She knows he's no guardian angel, and his dark world isn't exactly heaven, yet she can't stay away . . . especially since he always appears when she least expects it, but exactly when she needs him most.

But if she lets herself fall any further, she may just find herself back in the one place she most fears: the Underworld.

This book is so amazingly awesome! Meg Cabot is a literary genius.

Publisher: Point, Scholastic

It's always been just Kate and her mom—and her mother is dying. Her last wish? To move back to her childhood home. So Kate's going to start at a new school with no friends, no other family and the fear her mother won't live past the fall.

Then she meets Henry. Dark. Tortured. And mesmerizing. He claims to be Hades, god of the Underworld—and if she accepts his bargain, he'll keep her mother alive while Kate tries to pass seven tests.

Kate is sure he's crazy—until she sees him bring a girl back from the dead. Now saving her mother seems crazily possible. If she succeeds, she'll become Henry's future bride, and a goddess.

I really liked this book, and I'm super excited for the sequel.

Review: The Girl in the Steel Corset by Kady Cross

In 1897 England, sixteen-year-old Finley Jayne has no one except the thing inside her.

When a young lord tries to take advantage of Finley, she fights back. And wins. But no normal Victorian girl has a darker side that makes her capable of knocking out a full-grown man with one punch.

Only Griffin King sees the magical darkness inside her that says she's special, says she's one of them. The orphaned duke takes her in from the gaslit streets against the wishes of his band of misfits. Emily, who has her own special abilities and an unrequited love for Sam, who is part robot; and Jasper, an American cowboy with a shadowy secret.

Griffin's investigating a criminal called The Machinist, the mastermind behind several recent crimes by automatons. Finley thinks she can help and finally be a part of something, finally fit in.

But The Machinist wants to tear Griff's little company of strays apart, and it isn't long before trust is tested on all sides. At least Finley knows whose side she's on, even if it seems no one believes her.

My Review:

This novel was such a breath of fresh air! There wasn't a whiny girl who fell in love with this perfectly perfect guy who magically made her life ten times more difficult than it previously was. Instead there was a girl who already had some major problems and who found a boy that could solve them.

Finley Jane at first seemed too "Eh" for me. I just didn't connect with her character, but then she started kicking butt. It immediately felt like this story had punched its way into my mind just like Finley punched the nasty bad guys. My thoughts were consumed by these awesome characters Cross had put together. To me, the characters who weren't front and center in the book all the time were the ones that captivated me even more than Finley and Griffin King. Emily, Sam, Jasper and Jack Dandy were hilarious and suprisingly lovable (especially Sam, I love me some Sam).

The plot was everywhere! And I ADORED it! You hardly ever knew what was going to happen. (I say hardly because at one point there is a very predictable twist.) I tried putting down this book a few times and a good majority of the time my hands wouldn't let go.

This is the first Steampunk novel I've read, besides Clockwork Angel, and I am gaga over this genre now. I look forward to reading the sequel.

*I received a copy of this to review via Netgalley. This in no way altered my opinion/review.
