My Review (SPOILERS BE WARNED:

First off, I've got to thank Harlequin for letting me review this book via NetGalley and all of the other books I will soon be reviewing from them via NetGalley. I've also got to say that I was a bad book reader when I asked to review this book. I didn't check to see if this book was part of a series, OOPSIE.

However, from what I read, you don't have to read the first book, The Oracle of Dating, in order to understand this one.

The book starts out with a dramatic break-up scene that had me laughing yet empathizing at the same time, because after all, I am a teenage girl and being a teenager is my specialty.

Throughout the book Kayla tries to decide if she should "rebound" or not, which gets to be very snicker inducing due to her many failed attempts, all of which are not entirely her fault.

There is one issue that I relate VERY closely to and that is blogging. I have just started my blog, but I know how it feels to want to expand, fail at it, then succeed, and getting bad publicity is always a worry, along with a reader taking something out of context. Howevever I feel that Kayla handled her blogging crisis very maturely.

There were some issues I had with this book though, and one was the amount of understanding. It seemed to me that the characters all agreed all of the time and that irked me because no teenagers can agree that often. Also, I know that I haven't read the first book so that may be the reason why I don't completely comprehend Kayla, who has apparently only had limited dating experience, is creating a dating blog.

But all in all, this book gave me giggles, out right laughter, and at one point almost made me cry. It's definately a good relationship novel.

Torment by Lauren Kate (the sequel to Fallen)

*Also note that even though the trailer for this book has been out for awhile, I decided to put it on my blog yesterday in order to get things pumped up.*

My Review

Torment was significantly better in my opinion than the first book, Fallen.
Luce to me grew up a little, she realized that people were telling her what to do, but yet they would never give her answers as to why they were. To some readers it may seem that she's being stubborn but unlike her, we know that something is happening that requires Luce to lay low.

This novel had more adventure, answers, questions, romance and just a better air than the last one. I loved that Kate introduced Luce to a new, semi-normal love interest, and I adore all of the new characters she added along with the old ones she brought back. The shadows Luce kept seeing, a.k.a. the Announcers and their purpose was also really cool.

My only miff was the fact that Demon Boy was only in the book for maybe ten total pages! I love CAM! Daniel is nothing compared to that sexy, dark boy. When I was reading and I realized that there was very little Cam, I quickly grew disappointed.

So all in all I'd have to give this novel 4/5 stars just because Cam did a disappearing act.

To me this story was unexpected. I won it through a contest on Bree Despain's (the author of The Dark Divine and the sequel, to be released this December, The Lost Saint) blog. I just thought "Oh this will be a fun, young love story." Boy was I WRONG!

This novel goes deep into the heart of every animal-lover out there. The town that K.J. lives in seems so selfish at first, but throughtout the novel you begin to see the reasons behind the controversy, and although you may not agree with their methods, the people do have good reasons.

K.J. was and is that awkward, silent, wall-blending girl that most teenage girls can relate to. But by the middle of the novel you realize that her heart and drive is more dedicated than any hard-core environmentalist. She made me laugh, she nearly brought me to tears, and I adored her.
K.J.'s love interest with Virgil however was a little shakier to me. He was the person who introduced her to the "rebelling" lifestyle, but yet by the end of the novel he seems like he's trying to cover every point he's made, up. Don't get me wrong, it was a cute teen love story, but I didn't find it as riveting as others. And some people probably hated the ending to the book asking, "What? How could she do that?" but I thought it was a depiction of the real world and not some made up "Cinderella" story.

Overall this novel opened my eyes a little more and left me with a heartwarming feeling.
